Steadfast, acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas with clear resin finish, 20in h x 16sin w

Wendy Avery is a Connecticut-based artist, retired from corporate life, whose fluid acrylic paintings are inspired by a lifelong connection to water. Growing up vacationing on the shores of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she developed a deep love for the ocean – its waves, rhythm, and endless movement – which now flow through her work. Viewers often discover unexpected shapes and emotions within her work, reflecting the natural energy and mystery of water itself.

Wendy started her painting career late in life, during the shutdown that we all experienced in 2020. After retiring from the corporate world, Wendy embraced painting as a way to follow her intuition and creative spirit. Self-taught through online tutorials, she explores a process of layering acrylics, mixing colors, and letting paint move organically across the canvas.  Under the name Wavery Art – a blend of her name and her muse, the waves, she been a regular in the Art Fair circuit across Connecticut and Rhode Island for the past 6 years.  Avery’s work is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
