Bob Mini-Collectible, stained glass
Sybil Shay has lived on the Connecticut shoreline for most of her life and works at a small boarding school in the education department. Shay’s inspiration for working with stained glass began over 30 years ago, when she first took Adult Education classes that introduced her to the beauty of light, color, and craftsmanship in glass art. Those early lessons sparked a lasting appreciation for the intricate process of cutting, shaping, and soldering each piece into something luminous and unique. Though life took Sybil in other directions for many years, the memory of that creative joy stayed with her. Three years ago, she rediscovered her passion by taking classes from a talented local artist, whose guidance and contemporary techniques have deepened her skills and renewed her excitement for the art form. Today, Shay finds herself exploring vibrant colors, different textures, and a touch of whimsy in her new pieces—bringing together both the classic methods she learned decades ago and the fresh inspiration of the present to create stained glass that truly reflects her creative spirit.
Shay’s glasswork is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
