Stitched Horizons, watercolor with embroidered stitching

Marion Sparago is a mostly self-taught artist and maker, living in Cheshire, Connecticut. Marion is an Assistant Dean in the School of Education at Quinnipiac University.  Over the last 40 years, Marion has taken several art classes from various local municipality organizations but has also learned techniques from watching others online.  She draws inspiration from nature and animals, working across a variety of media, including watercolors, pastels, and textiles. Marion enjoys the balance of fine detail in her drawings and the tactile process of quilting and sewing, creating work that is approachable.  Her chalk pastel “Tiger” was featured at Quinnipiac University’s “Beauty and Wonder of Nature Art Exhibit” in 2014.  Marion’s recent work bridges the gap between the canvas and the sewing machine.  Sparago’s artwork is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
