Autumn Kisses, oil on paper, 14 x 14
Lisa Tellier was born in the paper mill town of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where the local river changed color daily. Here she began her lifelong love and study of art. Tellier began formal training at the School of the Worcester Art Museum, then married and moved to Connecticut, where her path led her to the Paier College of Art. After moving to the rural town of East Haddam, CT, Tellier studied Chinese Brush Painting under Charles Chu and Chien Fee Chang and watercolor with David Dewey.
Tellier returned to formal college studies in the 1990’s earning an associate’s degree from Manchester Community College, and a B.A. in art history from the University of Hartford, where she studied oil painting. She went on to get an MLA from Wesleyan University.
Lisa is a member of many art associations and has been accepted into several juried shows including, Connecticut Women Artists. She has exhibited at the Town and Country in Hartford, the Art League of New Britian, the Stockman Gallery, and her work is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
Monhegan Island holds a special place in the life of Tellier, making frequent pilgrimages to the “Artist’s Island”. Lisa Tellier can be found painting en plein air or working in her home studio. Instead of passing a river of color on her way across town, she makes her own kaleidoscope rainbow of colors in both paint and paper.
