There are no rules in nature, nor should there be rules in art. Kathy’s paintings all come from someplace or something she has seen in nature. Beautiful scenes inspire her to recreate and enhance what is visualized. The canvas is blank, and the vision starts with the first stroke of the brush as the vision of what she seeing becomes clear. The subject of landscapes or animals in nature takes Kathy to a place that is serene. Though her style depicts the activity of life, and through the accentuated strokes and bright vivid colors. Kathy’s strokes of a brush create a sense of movement, and liveliness.
Kathy as an artist lies in her ability to transform landscapes into captivating mosaics of color and texture, she adds depth to her creations, giving them a sense of movement and vitality. While Kathy’s roots lie in landscape paintings of nature, her artistic journey has taken her on a new path. Over the past year, she has ventured into the realm of pet portraiture, drawing inspiration from the charm and personality of beloved family pets. Kathy’s paintings are infused with bold, vibrant hues that draw you to the art that evokes a sense of joy. Whether capturing the tranquility of a coastal scene or a cherished pet, Kathy’s colors leap off the canvas, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in her world of art.
Kathy was born and raised primarily on Long Island’s South Shore, in the small beach community of Point Lookout, New York. In 1985 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Art degree at The School of Visual Arts in New York. Having studied Illustration and graphic design, She previously worked for 23 years as an Art Director for a publishing company and currently works in marketing.
Kathy’s work is currently featured at Spectrum Gallery’s Summer Art Festival on the Essex Town Green.
