Rustic Moon Bowl

Born in Argentina and trained in France where he earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Paris, Hugo Marchevsky has spent a lifetime exploring the human mind and spirit. Over a decade ago his creative path led him to wood turning, transforming a curiosity into a profound artistic pursuit. His work celebrates the warmth, texture and soul of wood, guided by a philosophy of deep respect for nature.

Echoing Frank Lloyd Wright, he embraces the idea that “Wood is universally beautiful to man. It is the most humanly intimate of all materials”. Each piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and the quiet dialogue between artist and material.

Hugo Marchevsky’s creations have been showcased at premier Connecticut Art and Craft Fairs, including Guilford, Mystic, Old Saybrook, Roseland Cottage, etc.  where selected works have been recognized for their artistry. From his studio in Niantic, CT, he continues to create and teach, nurturing both skills and creative expression in every student. Marchevsky’s wood turnings are currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
