Solitary Majesty Stained Glass Panel

Barbara Urquhart is a Northern New Jersey based stained glass artisan who transforms vibrant sheets of stained glass into captivating works of art that utilize light to touch and inspire the world around her.  Barb attended the University of Massachusetts and received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  Most of Barb’s professional career was spent as a Purchasing Manager for a large manufacturing company.  It wasn’t until her early thirties that Barb, always artistic as a child, started exploring the world of stained glass.  She took a class at a local stained-glass studio, and what started as a hobby, soon became a passion.  Specializing in the traditional copper foil technique, her work ranges from playful and holiday themed suncatchers to intricate panels depicting the natural beauty of landscapes and animals.

Driven by a lifelong love of glass, Barb approaches each piece with a keen eye for balance and detail.  Her creative process involves hand-selecting unique colors and textures to depict her subject matter.  She then utilizes meticulous cutting, foiling, and soldering techniques to ensure that each piece is a one-of-a-kind treasure.

Today, Barb is retired and when she is not in her workshop, she often features her work at craft fairs around Northern NJ and NY State.  Her handmade stained-glass pieces can also be found in select artisan boutiques and galleries across the tri-state area. Urquhart’s stained glass is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
