Tatiana Ferraro was born in Poland and came to the US when she was four years old. She spent her formative years on the Lower East Side, attending St. George Grammar School, and High School of Performing Arts where she majored in ballet and studied the piano at the Third Street Settlement Music School. She earned her degrees in Political Science from St. John’s University. Upon graduation she went into teaching, spending 22 years as a high school Social Studies teacher and 16 as a principal. Although interest in art came rather late and was originally used as an activity to release the stresses of being an administrator of an elementary school, watercolor painting assumed a more prominent role in her life. Her instructors, Lynn Schulman, Janice Cianflone, Dmitri Wright and Elissa Gore encouraged her interest and work with watercolors. Her hobbies of gardening and travels offer inspiration for her painting.
Ms. Ferraro lives with her husband in Yorktown Heights.
