Virginia Simmons is principally a self-taught oil painter aligning herself with that tradition. From her childhood she was deeply influenced by the natural world. She paints mostly from her imagination, life experiences and memories.
She enjoys painting what she sees in nature and has presented her paintings in various shows along the shoreline including Clinton and Madison societies
She studied with Ruth Connery and at the Guilford Art Center with Ann Culver, Josh Smith, Marc Anthony as well as Dan Gheno at the Lyme Academy. Virginis is a member of The Clinton Art Society, The Madison Art Society and Clinton Plein Air Painters.
Prior to pursuing her love of painting, she single handedly raised three successful sons, her greatest achievement. She is also retired from 25 years of administrative and marketing positions with Sarah Inc. and the Madison Recreation Department
Virgina is currently showing some of her paintings at Spectrum Art Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
