Ted is a Connecticut native residing in Uncasville, with a degree in Tool and Manufacturing Technology from Norwich Free Academy.  He was employed by Pratt & Whitney in a metallurgical research lab until 1969 when he joined the USN Submarine Service and served aboard the Navy’s last diesel boat, the USS Blueback SS581.

Ted returned to Pratt & Whitney in 1971 and soon became an avid sailor.  In 1981 he left Pratt to sail to the Caribbean with future wife Karin Hagelin on their 28-foot sloop Sea Foam.  They were married in 1983 and continued working together aboard charter and private yachts, for most of the next six years. After moving ashore in 1989 Ted Retire from Faria Corp in Uncasville where he was Customer Service Manager.

Genard studied portraiture and figure drawing under Christopher Zhang and Jack Montmeat and most recently Claudia Post. Ted is an Associate Artist at the Lyme Art Association.  He is a member of the Slater Museum in Norwich, The Norwich Art Center, Hygienic Art Inc. in New London, a prior Elected Artist at the Mystic Museum of Art and former president of New London Art Students League.  He has hung photos, pencil drawings, and oils in various juried shows and has won numerous awards from honorable mention to first place.  He has shown in the prestigious NYC Salmagundi Club’s open juried show in 2016. Genard’s work is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
