Robert Dietz

Bob Dietz Decided to get back to his roots after retiring from the electronics industry as a chip designer, then a custom home builder, and finally as a home inspector.  He began sketching portraits of his grandchildren in graphite.  He investigated painting with watercolors and then gravitated back to his “first love,” pastels.

Dietz works from photos, most of which he takes himself.  His paintings are inspired from trips to Cape Cod, Nova Scotia, Maine, upstate NY, Europe and the Connecticut shoreline. Seascapes and landscapes are his favorite subjects and his skill with pastel has brought him numerous commissions including portraits. His work has been exhibited locally in Connecticut, the Madison Art Society, Maple and Main Gallery of Fine Art in Chester, the Valentine H. Zahn gallery at Middlesex Hospital in Westbrook, Spectrum Gallery, Centerbrook, and at the Lyme Art Society, Old Lyme. He has been accepted into several juried shows where he has won numerous awards. Many of his pieces are now in private collections. Bob is a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society, Lyme Art Society and is an Elected Member of the Madison Art Society.
