Marley Howard is a vocalist, composer, and visual artist residing in New York City. She is a bold and innovative artist set to be a force in the city’s art scenes. Her music is steeped in the blues, folk, and jazz traditions with emotive conviction. Marley prioritizes the soul of Black American Music, no matter the genre she sings in. Her art and singing have been working hand in hand since she was a child, taking music and art classes throughout middle and high school in Manchester, CT.
Howard’s artwork, like her music, is evocative and vibrant. Marley specializes in mixed-media pieces combining printmaking, collage, and painting. Howard attended Oberlin College and Conservatory, Class of 2024, and that is where she discovered her love for printmaking, studying under Kristina Paabus. Her works often revolve around reckoning with identity, the body, and the understanding of the world around her. Her artwork is influenced by the literature she reads and her lived experiences. Marley was a 2-time recipient of the Oberlin Entrepreneurship grant in 2024 for her artwork. Howard recently made her debut in “Out of Many: A Caribbean Art Exhibit” at the Loop Gallery in Manchester, Connecticut. Marley’s artwork iscurrently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
