Kaitlin Cahill has been practicing artwork of various mediums since high school, where she was a recipient of an Award from the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Exhibition for her charcoal and pastel pencil works. After high school, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut, and later earned a Master’s degree in Laboratory Animal Science from Drexel University. Kaitlin has worked as a researcher at Alexion Pharmaceuticals in New Haven, Connecticut for over 12 years. In 2019, Kaitlin and her husband moved to a small farm in central Connecticut which is now home to a variety of animals, including a flock of fiber sheep which help to supply some of the wool used in Kaitlin’s artwork, handspun yarn, and knitted accessories.
Kaitlin was first introduced to the art of needle felting in 2021 when she took a class with local artist Lori Neumann and since then she has traveled much of central and eastern Connecticut to share her wool art at dozens of vendor events. In 2024, she began teaching group needle felting classes across the state and most recently, she has started offering custom needle felted pet portraits. Cahill’s needle felting is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
