Spring, strips of cloth & fancy cut cloth combined with water soluble stabilizer & machine quilted. Mounted on canvas, 12 x 12

Born and raised on an 80acre farm in Linden, Michigan, Gina Grubb Frank discovered her love of sewing at an early age while watching her grandmother work at a treadle sewing machine in a sunlit room—an heirloom she now keeps in her own home. That early inspiration led her to purchase her first Singer sewing machine while completing her master’s degree, beginning a lifelong passion of working and creating work with fiber.

A quilt displayed in her office at Quinnipiac University opened the door to deeper artistic engagement when she was invited to join Sisters In Cloth, a shorelinebased fiber arts group in Connecticut. Encouraged by fellow artists, she soon joined Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), an international organization dedicated to the fiber arts, where she now serves as the Regional Representative for Connecticut. She enjoys creating and expressing her experiences through fiber art.

Gina’’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, traveling to locations including Japan and Australia – often journeying farther than she has. She holds an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University and works full time at Quinnipiac University.

Gina and her husband along with their dog Rusty live in Guilford and she is known as Gigi to their grandkids who live in Minneapolis. Her work is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
