My father was born in Norway and instilled in our family a love for anything Norwegian. I especially loved Christmas time, the ornaments, the cookies, the food and the traditions . I have tried to continue some of the traditions with my own family. Each year we all gather to make tins full of Norwegian cookies together. We call this special night “Norwegian Night”.
After my father’s death and a trip to Norway, I began to paint Norwegian Christmas elves called Nisses. They are whimsical characters that help the farmers, care for the animals and secretly leave gifts for the children.
I grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey . Moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where I took my first art lesson at the Cincinnati Art Academy. Four years ago we moved to Connecticut. I have continued to take lessons, here at Guilford Art Academy in watercolors.
My husband and I have three sons, two wonderful daughter-in laws and four adorable grandchildren I love spending time with the family, gardening, painting, raising cockatiels and tending to my koi pond.
