Compass Black & White Ornament

Bernadette’s art has evolved over her lifetime through many forms of expression, from jewelry and book arts (hand-made journals, cards, letterpress printing, mini-books) to paper quilling. Her training has been through Wesleyan University Masters Program, Wesleyan Potters workshops, and numerous book-construction-related classes, along with significant “learn by doing” self-instruction.

After a full life of corporate careers in Information Technology and then in bookkeeping, she is now spending her retirement creating beautiful accessories for people’s homes and traveling throughout the world at least once a year.

Bernadette first heard of paper quilling in a feature article in her favorite British magazine in 2023. Intrigued, she learned quilling techniques through a few books on the subject but mostly by trial and error. Her “engineer’s brain” enjoys the challenge of designing both pictures and ornaments of various styles and complexities – everything is of her own design.

All her quilled pictures are one-of-a-kind. The ornaments are available in multiple colors and paper sizes, some of which include a jewelry-grade charm as an accent. Bernadette’s work has been available in limited quantities at various galleries in CT.
