Do you think you are interested in the Acrylic medium but not sure? Well, we have a suggestion. Try the first class of our new Acrylic studio on Wed. 6:30-8:30. The cost will be $32 cash with a $5 material fee paid to the instructor. Then if you want to continue you can pay the balance and invest in the supplies. If not well, hopefully, you will have enjoyed yourself for one evening at the Gallery.

The focus will be on enjoying the painting process. Whether you are beginning your painting journey or already have some painting experience. Painting demonstrations and the instructor painting along builds confidence and encourages questions. We will work from reference photos (yours or supplied) of primarily landscape or still life images.Tackling composition, color mixing, and color value. Practicing drawing techniques to refine drawing skills making for better paintings. Exploring unique challenges with each new subject and developing our paintings to a finished level. We will end each class with a friendly critique of our work.Upon registration a list of basic supplies will be available.

About the instructor:
Gloria Nilsson is a professional teaching artist. She received her degree in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute and worked as a graphic designer for several years. Nilsson is currently painting on silk, where she applies a variety of techniques to fine art paintings and scarves. Her silk painting, Chapter 11: Spellcheck, was published in 2015 by Connecticut Humanities/Connecticut Center for the Book. She also creates her own unique artisan crafted jewelry designs and fine art note cards.
Nilsson enjoys teaching art at Spectrum Gallery, including the Fashion Illustration, Nature Camp programs and New Silk Painting: Beyond the Borders. She also teaches a weekly art program at Masonicare at Chester Village.
Gloria has won several awards over the years including Manhattan Arts International, Healing Power of Art. Nilsson’s artworks have been exhibited in solo and group shows, and her works have been accepted into juried shows at Lyme Art Association, New Haven Paint and Clay, and both Clinton and Madison Art Societies where she holds elected artist status. Her work is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
