Arts Center Killingworth’s Spectrum Fine Art Gallery and Artisans Store of Centerbrook, Connecticut presents ALL NATURAL, an exhibition of artists and artisans who not only consider the earth’s natural resources, but also incorporate them into their work. The six-week show, from June 27 to August 10 at 61 Main Street, Centerbrook showcases fine artists who use actual natural materials, select artisans who use nature’s imagery in their pieces and fine art photographers who present unique views of the natural world. The exhibition includes several free Gallery events open to the public, including the first Spectrum Gallery Family Day, FREE, Sunday, July 20 (1-5pm) with Art and Nature Workshops, a Scavenger Hunt, Storytelling and Music by Ann Shapiro of the CT Storytelling Center. Spectrum holds its first Origami Circle, Saturday, July 12 (11am-1pm) for $2 material fee with Spectrum Artisan Kristin Coombs. No experience necessary!
Participating in the Spectrum Gallery exhibit include abstract and figurative painters working with acrylic, egg tempera and casein; an installation artist who uses printmaking and encaustic (molten beeswax); and mixed media artists and sculptors who use wood, stone, clay, fiber, spider webs, and pressed plants. Fine artisans exhibiting in the Spectrum Store include those working with glass, porcelain, clay, fabric, wood, metal, and precious and semi-precious stones.
