Mari A. Firkatian is Professor of History at the University of Hartford. She has been a Fulbright Scholar and a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow as well as a Yale University Fellow and a recipient of International Research and Exchanges Board scholarships.
As an historian, linguist, traveler, and artist her interests and pursuits have allowed her to live and travel extensively in Southeast Europe, the Levant, and the Soviet Union. She is keen to interpret the world with her art.
She has studied art at the University of Hartford Art School. Among her teachers are Power Boothe, Jaclyn Conley, Leeah Joo, and Nikki Maloof.
Firkatian’s artwork is currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
