Margaret Emond’s artistic career path has taken many twists and turns. She studied at the University of Hartford Art School and received her BFA Magna Cum Laude along with the school’s painting award. She also took drawing classes at the Copley Art Society and the Cambridge Art League in Boston and at The Art Students League in New York City. While at The Hartford Art School she was a painting major but was then also introduced to the world of sculpture, learning wood carving and clay modeling and casting. After art school she remained in the West Hartford area and showed her paintings in many regional juried shows winning best in show and numerous other awards.
Margaret was driven to find a way to combine the two disciplines of painting & sculpture, which she debuted in a show in NYC. She began to sell her new 3D work in nine gallery/stores in MA, ME, IL and CT as art and as craft. In addition to earning a living selling her work she was also a staff artist for two leading interior designers in Hartford CT.
Margaret now resides in New London with her husband Richard Emond who is also an artist. She continues to show in New England and is winning awards while gaining notice from galleries in New York.
