Lois Lawrence is a largely self-taught artist who lives and works in Stonington, Connecticut. Her formal training under the tutelage of artists such as the late Deane Keller of the Lyme Academy of Art and Dan Truth of Mystic, CT, has been in formal composition but she considers abstraction to be an important part of her artistic journey and feels equally comfortable creating representational images and chronicling flights of pure imagination.
Lawrence, who has practiced law in Mystic, Connecticut for nearly four decades, has been painting far longer and has been exhibiting her work since the mid-1980s. Her work has been featured in juried shows at the Mystic Museum of Art, the Bristol Art Museum, the Warwick Center for the Arts, The Guilford Art Center, The Lyme Art Association and other venues. She is an elected member of the Artists’ Cooperative of Westerly, RI, and an Associate Member at the Lyme Art Association. She has shown at festivals extensively throughout Rhode Island and her work is in private collections throughout the country.
