Mr. Killeen is the author of The North Light Book of Acrylic Painting Techniques (1995), and has been featured in numerous articles and books, such as Splash (Rachel Rubin Wolf, editor, 1994), showcasing “105 of America’s Best Contemporary Watercolorists”, and How to Draw and Paint Texture (Martin Davidson, 1992), which features a watercolor by Mr. Killeen on the cover. His work has received many awards, including First Place in the Still Life Category in The Artist’s Magazine Annual National Art Competition (1992); First Prize in the Arts-Connecticut Annual Juried Exhibition in 1993 and 1994; and Individual Artist Grants from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts (1993-94) and the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (New York, NY, 1995-96). His work has been shown in galleries and exhibitions that include Art and the Law/West ’83, a nationally-touring invitational exhibit; a two-artist show sponsored by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts (Hartford, CT, 1994); and the Aldrich Museum “Investing in Dreams” exhibit (1995).
Mr. Killeen’s involvement in the arts extends to community activities and organizations. For example, he is the founder and a sponsor of the Future Choices Annual Juried Show for regional high school students, now in its fourth decade, under the aegis of the Shoreline Arts Alliance.
