Diana Baker majored in Art History at Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT. She spent most of her time painting and learned through her studio professor, Chaim Steinbach One of a few jobs after college was for Helen Frankenthaler. She observed the psyche of a successful female artist intent on gesture. Soon afterwards she attended architecture graduate school in New York. She was transferred to Barcelona for a year to work on projects related to the ’92 Olympics. She continued her stay for 17 years, leaving architectural work and pursuing painting with total dedication. She showed frequently in this charming urbane city, as well as in cities nearby and Ibiza. She won 2 small awards for her ‘Green Project” -a series of ‘green’ paintings, and an animated short film titled ‘Musical Landscapes’. She returned to the US in 2005. Baker is primarily an abstract landscape painter, working in most mediums, often mixing her paint with pigments. Since She has shown her work sporadically in Southeastern Connecticut and her abstract landscape paintings are currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
