Carol Courtney pursued a career in art in 1974 at the University of New Haven, completing an AS in Commercial Art in 1978. Various career relocations orientated Carol to resume her studies. While working at the University of Hartford, encouraged by both students and professors she completed her degree and was awarded BFA, Painting in 2020.
Cat Balco, Professor of Painting, and Courtney’s advisor where fascinated with her work in alcohol ink and encouraged Carol to use this medium in her senior thesis. Carol chose subjects that are organic and apply the unpredictability of this medium to obtain its unique results. She recently retired to spend more time painting. Recent shows include Windsor Art Center Members show, 2020 & 2021, and Redux 2020 & 2021 University of Hartford Alumni show. Courtney’s paintings are currently exhibited at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
